On the frontal view, there is cavitation in the upper left lung. Additionally, the left hemithorax has widespread patchy opacity and volume loss with a juxtaphrenic peak sign.
Case Discussion
This patient has proven tuberculosis (TB) with a positive sputum test. This is a typical chest x-ray of pulmonary TB with upper lobe cavitation. TB is common in low-income countries.
