Presentation

Right flank pain with suspicion of renal stone on the ultrasound.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female
ct
  • no radiopaque renal or ureteric calculi or hydroureteronephrosis is seen on either side.

  • a hypodensity measuring 12 x 14 mm is noted at the upper pole of left kidney which is likely a cyst.

  • tongue-like, inferior projection of the right lobe of the liver beyond the inferior costal cartilage.

Case Discussion

Incidental finding of Riedel lobe which is an anatomical variant of the right lobe of the liver, seen more frequently in the females.
