Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female

Extensive subarachnoid haemorrhage, blood in the fourth ventricle, mildly dilated ventricular system. Bilateral uncal herniation. No parenchymal haemorrhage.

Large left posterior communicating artery aneurysm containing a small amount of clot.

Left internal carotid artery injection shows a fetal origin of the posterior cerebral artery and confirms a large clot containing left posterior communicating artery aneurysm, best seen in the lateral projection.

Case Discussion

Nice example of fetal origin of the posterior cerebral artery and ruptured left posterior communicating artery aneurysm.
