Case Discussion

10-year-old boy after falling down presented with left elbow pain, upon evaluation of the radiograph the presence of posterior fat pad and prominent anterior fat pad suggesting joint effusion.

The anterior humeral line does not intersect with the middle third of the capitellum, even though this line could be affected by the patient's position during image acquisition indicates supracondylar fracture. However, the radio-capitellar line intersects with the capitellum (indicating there is no radial head dislocation).

The most common elbow fracture in children, due to the fact the supracondylar region which is surrounded by anterior and posterior fat pads is the narrowest and weakest point.
