The Lluís Alcanyís Hospital began its activity on 13th August 1984, with the opening of the emergency, laboratory, operating theatres, hospitalisation and obstetrics services. The hospital has 240 beds and 30 medical, nursing and surgical specialities.
This health centre has evolved in terms of diagnostic, therapeutic and nursing techniques. It has also been improving its material equipment and the professionals who offer assistance, with the support of the General Hospital of Ontinyent, to a reference population of 210,000 people, specifically the inhabitants of the regions of La Costera, La Vall d'Albaida, La Canal de Navarrés and La Ribera.
Among the achievements to be highlighted is the attainment of postgraduate teaching accreditation in 1987, granted by the Ministry of Health, initiating "MIR" training in Family Medicine, General Surgery, Anaesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Paediatrics and Occupational Medicine. Currently, is a University Hospital.
