Bone scan shows no evidence of skeletal metastases. If metastases had been identified, what variant of nephroblastoma should be prospectively considered?
Clear cell sarcoma is an aggressive variant of Wilms tumour, and has more propensity for skeletal metastases.
The lesion appears to extend beyond kidney with possible renal vein involvement. However, no regional lymph node or metastases seen. What stage would you assign to this tumour?
This would be a stage II tumour, as the mass is large and extends beyond kidney and appears to involve renal vein.
Bone scan (bone phase) using 99mTc-methylene diphosphonate (MDP) demonstrates no abnormal uptake in the skeleton.
