How thick is too thick for lipomatous septa?
Generally, 2mm or greater is concerning for liposarcoma.
What is the most common histologic type of liposarcoma?
well-differentiated liposarcoma is the most common, ~ 50%, has the highest amount of fat content and is also known as an atypical lipoma, low grade. Myxoid (myxoid liposarcoma) - 2nd most common, intermediate grade. Round cell / de-differentiated (de-differentied liposarcoma) - high grade, aggressive with frequent metastases. Pleomorphic (pleomorhpic liposarcoma) - least common, high grade, aggressive with frequent metastases.
There is a large, predominantly fatty mass in the posteromedial aspect of the left thigh which is heterogeneous in appearance with multiple septations that are thickened and enhance. The semintendinosus muscle courses through the center of the mass.
