Subcutaneous lipoma is benign tumor arises from subcutaneous adipose tissue.

• fat is hypodense in CT

• fat is hyperintense in T1, T2 and PD

• fat is hypointense in STIR and FAT SAT

Differential diagnosis of lesions with hyperintense T1 :

1. lipoma

2. subacute blood

3. slow flowing blood

4. radiation changes

5. cyst with proteinaceous material

6. hemangioma
