Knee radiograph and MRI images demonstrate patellar tendinosis with associated pre-patellar bursitis.

Normal patellar tendon thickness is ~0.5cm (or ~70% the thickness of the accompanying quadriceps tendon).  In this case there is diffuse patellar tendinosis (sparing the portion that passes anterior to the patella to fuse with the quadriceps tendon). Focal patellar tendinosis of the proximal deep insertional fibers is termed Sinding-Larson-Johansson disease in children (often associated with cerebral palsy) and jumper's knee in adults.
