The lump can be moved side to side but is relatively fixed supero-inferiorly. It also elevates when the tongue is protruded.
What does surgery entail and what is the procedure known as?
Complete resection of the cyst and duct up to the foramen caecum is curative. The Sistrunk procedure includes resection of the middle third of the hyoid bone.
