A Chiari II malformation is a relatively common congenital malformation of the spine and posterior fossa characterized by lumbosacral spina bifeda aperta / myelomeningocoele and a small posterior fossa with descent of the brain stem. Numerous associated abnormalities are also frequently encountered.
