The patient was taken for laparoscopy where it was found that there was a "...right sided ovarian cyst identified - appeared torsed on itself once, detorted...".
The ovarian cyst was resected and the final histopathology report showed a "theca lutein cyst".
The case highlights how any large adnexal lesion has the propensity to tort on itself and that benign lesions are more likely to tort than malignant lesions.
