Globe rupture

Discussion:

The patient went on to have surgery which confirmed the rupture.

Histology

MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION: The material consists almost entirely of blood clot with some platelet layering and with some superficial retinal layers towards one side. There is no evidence of malignancy. Iron staining is negative and there is no tissue organization indicating recent hemorrhage.

FINAL DIAGNOSIS: Intra-ocular contents: Benign blood clot and some detached retinal tissue.
