Ultrasound findings favor avulsion of proximal attachment of the radial collateral ligament of the thumb at the metacarpophalangeal joint. The ligament is deep to abductor aponeurosis meaning there is no 'Stener-like' radial collateral ligament lesion. Radial collateral ligament injury is less common than the ulnar collateral ligament of the thumb.
