In a patient with asbestosis exposure and these CT findings mesothelioma is by far the most likely diagnosis.The presence of calcified pleural plaques strengthens this diagnosis.

In a person with no prior exposure to asbestosis similar CT findings can be seen in pleural metastases.

Pleural TB can result in marked pleural thickening encasing the lung.
