A bronchial diverticulum refers to ana blind ended-ended outpouching arising from the bronchial tree.
Epidemiology
They can beare relatively common on CT studies. They can beare more common and more widespread in smokers 2 but can also present in non smokers-smokers. There may be a slightly increaseincreased male predilection but no significant age predilection 3.
Pathology
They can be of variable shape and size although most tend to be around 1-2 mm in size 3.
ThereTheir exact aetiology is variable but chronic inflammatory tracheobronchial changes and increased endoluminal pressure may play a role in their development 4.
