Caisson's disease disease is an acute neurological emergency that can occur in deep sea divers.
Pathology
Nitrogen gas bubbles released will cause impingement of the blood vessels to the spinal cord and brain or cause emboli of gas bubbles leading to neurological deficit .
Radiographic features
MRI
Radiological changes are seen in early stages in MRI, but have very low specificity. It may show the accumilation of nitrogen buubles in marrow fat. After few weeks imaging of spine comes to normal.
