Summary
-
origin:
- medial olecranon, upper three
quarters-quarters of the anterior and medial surface of ulna, adjacnetadjacent interosseous membrane - shares aponeurotic attachment to the posterior border of the ulna with flexor & extensor carpi ulnaris
- medial olecranon, upper three
- insertion: volar surface of distal phalanges 2-5
-
innervation
- medial half (third, fourth and fifth digits): ulnar nerve
- lateral half (second and third digits): anterior interosseous nerve
- the third digit typically receives dual innervation2
- action: flexion at the distal interphalangeal, proximal interphalangeal and wrist joints
