Projections
Standard projections
In most centres a PA and oblique radiograph comprise the standard projections utilised although additional radiographs can be taken for specific indications:
- hand PA view
- hand DP oblique view (anterior oblique)
Additional projections
- hand lateral view
- ball-catcher view (a.k.a. Nørgaard projection)
Indications
- trauma with suspected fracture
- suspected metacarpal dislocation
- foreign body detection and localisation
- investigation of joint pain or deformity
- rheumatoid arthritis
