The left main bronchus divides into the left upper lobe bronchus and the left lower lobe bronchus.
Gross Anatomy
The left upper lobe bronchus is very short and divides immediately into the segmental bronchi. There are usually 10 individual segmental bronchi for each lung, however, the left lung can have segmental bronchi which share a common stem 1.
The left upper lobe segmental bronchi are 1:

apico-posteriorapicoposterior (common stem of apical and posterior) - anterior
- superior lingular
- inferior lingular
Blood Supply
- they are supplied by the superior left bronchial artery 2
- the venous return from the left upper lobe bronchus drain to the accessory hemiazygos vein 2
