Nasal septal haematomas arise from ruptures in the small blood vessels in the nasal septum and are largely secondary to trauma. The nasal septum has a rich vascular supply which sources from both the internal and external carotid arteries. 

Radiographic features

Septal haematomas appear as isoattenuating or hypoattenuating collections in the nasal septum. They can be uniform or heterogenous in appearance and be found with or without nasal trauma.
