Ossifying pulmonary metastases
Updates to Article Attributes
Body
was changed:
Ossifying pulmonary metastases are pulmonary metastases than contain bone forming (ossific) components. On imaging, they can be challenging to differentiate from calcifying pulmonary metastases.
Pathology
They can arise from a range of primary tumours (some of which also cause calcifying pulmonary metastases). These include
- osteosarcoma 3
- chondrosarcoma 3
- giant cell tumour of bone 1,4
- parotid adenocarcinoma
- gastric adenocarcinoma 2
Differential diagnosis
On imaging consider
- calcifying pulmonary metastases
- pulmonary ossification from other causes
