The pectoral girdle is part of the upper limb that connects the limb to the axial skeleton. It comprises the scapula and clavicle. The sternum is considered a part of the thorax and not the pectoral girdle.

The girdle has a complex degree of movement including dependent and independent movements of the glenohumeral joint, acromioclavicular joint, scapulothoracic 'joint' and sternoclavicular joint.
