The usage section of an article does not appear in all articles and is only required where additional information about the prevalence of use of a particular staging or classification system is required. It is similar but not identical to the alternative heading of terminology which focuses more on differences in how specific terms are used.
Location
The usage section is located immediately after the introduction, and before epidemiology.
Structure
This section will usually be a paragraph that explains specifics about usage. It can be a challenging paragraph to write as information about usage is not readily available and in some instances, there is significant regional variation. Nonetheless, an attempt at helping the reader understand whether or not a specific classification system or staging system is widely used in routine clinical practice or whether it is purely for historical interest or research use is worthwhile.
Due to its very nature, a somewhat less formal tone may be appropriate.
