Body was changed:

Young syndrome shares similar clinical and radiological findings to primary ciliary dyskinesia and cystic fibrosis, however, the underlying pathogenesis is yet to be fully elucidated. Obstructive azoospermia at the level of the epididymis is thought to be the cause of infertility. The commonly referenced clinical triad is 1:

  • obstructive azoospermia
  • bronchiectasis (predominantly lower lobe)
  • sinusitis (although well known as part of the triad, sinusitis in Young's syndrome is based on case reports/ case series/series and has not been well documented in research) 2

EtymologyHistory and etymology

It is named after Donald Young, a urologist who first reported a series of patients with obstructive azoospermia in association with respiratory pathology in 1970 4
