Presentation

Bleeding per rectum.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

Mid rectal fungating mass is noted appears of low signal intensity on T1, intermediate signal on T2 with post contrast enhancement and diffusion restriction.

A few mesorectal lymph nodes are also noted.

Case Discussion

This case is a pathologically proven rectal adenocarcinoma. The mass is seen in the mid rectum involving all layers of the rectal wall with extension to the mesorectal fat along its left aspect. There is also evidence of extramural vascular invasion. The corresponding MRI stage is T3, N2, Mx.
