Minimally displaced rib fractures involving the left third, fourth, and eighth ribs. Opacification of the left hemithorax is in keeping with a large fluid/hemothorax collection. There is mediastinal shift towards the right. Pleural tube is noted placed in the left hemithorax base.
The right lung and pleural space are clear.
Case Discussion
The features are those of a traumatic left hemothorax in this clinical scenario. This was confirmed clinically with the chest tube.
