Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Patient with history of precocious puberty, otherwise in good overall health. An ultrasound was performed and revealed a complex mass in the left hypochondrium.

Patient Data

Age: 13 years
Gender: Female

A well-encapsulated oval mass arising from the pancreatic tail with two components, solid and cystic. The solid component shows a moderate enhancement following IV contrast administration.

Case Discussion

Solid pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas or Frantz’s tumor is considered as borderline neoplasms under WHO classification in 1996. It is usually seen in young female patients

Complete surgical resection should be performed once the tumor is diagnosed. The prognosis is usually favorable.
