Patient Data

mammography

A hyperdense irregular mass with a spiculated margin is seen in the lower inner quadrant of the left breast that causes surrounding parenchymal distortion and mild skin retraction. (BI-RADS 5: Highly suggestive of malignancy)

Case Discussion

An ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy was performed for the left breast highly suspicious mass, and histopathology evaluation confirmed invasive breast carcinoma of no special type.

An irregular breast mass with spiculated margins that contains fine internal calcification foci and causes surrounding parenchymal distortion and nipple/skin retraction is highly suspicious for malignancy (BI-RADS 5), and further biopsy is needed for histopathology and IHC evaluations.
