Presentation

Dementia and recurrent seizures.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

Presence of calcifications in the dentate nuclei of the cerebellum and basal ganglia, bilaterally.

Case Discussion

Features suggest Fahr disease, is brain calcinosis and basal ganglia, genetically determined autosomal dominant transmission. Symptoms usually appear between 40 and 50 years and are characterized by dementia, migraine, seizures, spastic paralysis, dysarthria.
