Decreased fetal movements.

Patient Data

Age: 32 week 5 days gestation

Signs of severe hemodynamic adaptation with a risk of acidosis

  • reversed-end diastolic flow in the umbilical artery

  • pulsatile umbilical vein flow

Case Discussion

This is a classical example of severe hemodynamic adaptation in fetal Doppler ultrasound. Such cases are at high risk of intrauterine demise. The baby was delivered and kept in the NICU. Fortunately, the baby was discharged on oral feeds later.
