Presentation
Post nasojejunal tube insertion in theater ?position.
Patient Data
Nasojejunal tube is looped in the stomach and the tip projects over the expected position of the pylorus or first part of the duodenum (to the right of the lumbar spine). Left-sided PICC is appropriately positioned with the tip in the SVC.
Case Discussion
Nasojejunal tubes (NJT) as the name suggests, should have their tip in the proximal jejunum. Knowledge of normal anatomy is important because the tubing should be seen to follow the contours of the duodenum and pass the expected position of the D-J flexure to ensure its tip is in an appropriate position.
