Presentation

Incidental finding on brain MRI.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female
mri

Right occipital sinus best seen on postcontrast axial and sagittal T1 MIP sequences, draining into the ipsilateral internal jugular vein.

Normal appearance of the transverse and sigmoid sinuses with small arachnoid granulations within as well as in the occipital sinus.

Case Discussion

The occipital sinus must be mentioned in radiological report, especially in patients with posterior fossa masses or conditions that will require a posterior fossa craniotomy, as the sinus may be large or, more importantly, off-midline.
