Patellar tendon-lateral femoral condyle friction syndrome

Presentation

Pain in infrapatellar region, no h/o trauma.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male

Significant edema / inflammation between patellar tendon and lateral femoral condyle in superolateral aspects of Hoffa’s fat pad.

Subtle edema is seen in inferior aspects of articular cartilage along lateral facet of patella.

Patella appears to be mildly high riding (mild patella alta).

Mild joint effusion is seen, extending to suprapatellar recess.

Case Discussion

Findings are suggestive of patellar tendon – lateral femoral condyle friction syndrome / Hoffa’s fat

pad impingement. This is the likely cause of patient's symptoms.
