Presentation
History of rectal carcinoma with large rectovesical fistula.
Patient Data
Metallic ureteral occlusion devices in both distal ureters.
Left and right percutaneous nephrostomy tubes, allowing urinary diversion.
Yellow ovals around the ureteral occlusion devices.
Case Discussion
Ureteral occlusion devices are often placed temporarily during a stone retrieval procedure to prevent retrograde movement of the stone, but they can also be placed permanently for complete urinary diversion. In this case they wanted to effect complete urinary diversion away from the large malignant rectovesical fistula that could not be repaired.
