Acute sacroiliitis - unilateral

Extensive bone marrow edema involves both surfaces of the left sacroiliac joint and displays low signal on T1 and high signal on T2 fat-suppressed images due to the acute inflammatory process (osteitis).
Joint effusion with edematous infiltration of the ipsilateral iliacus, piriformis, gluteus medius and minimus muscles.
Normal appearance of the right sacroiliac joint.
Case Discussion
MRI findings are consistent with left-sided acute sacroiliitis.
