Case Discussion

This was an incidental finding. Separate origins of the right internal carotid and external carotid arteries from the innominate artery, with absence of the right common carotid artery is a rare vascular anomaly1,2.
Although rare, knowledge of this anomaly is important for the diagnosis of potentially life threatening conditions such as vascular dissection 1,2. It is especially important for the consideration of open vascular and endovascular surgery, in which a lack of awareness could result in significant morbidity and mortality1-3.
