Presentation

Palpable right breast lump.

Patient Data

Age: 85 years
Gender: Male

CC and MLO synthetic 2D mammographic views demonstrate an oval equal-density mass in the outer breast mid-depth that correlates as palpable and correlates with sonographic findings (seen in the US performed on the same day).

Ultrasound study performed subsequently demonstrated oval circumscribed heterogeneous avascular mass at 9:00, 3cm from the nipple without posterior acoustic features that correlated well with the mammographic finding and also correlated as palpable. The image shown was obtained as a follow-up after a benign US-guided biopsy.

The histopathology report revealed a myofibroblastoma.

Case Discussion

Myofibroblastoma is a rare benign breast tumor with a reported male predilection. Management is surgical excision. Malignant transformation or recurrence has not been reported in the literature.
