Calcific tendinitis of quadratus femoris tendon

Presentation

Left hip pain; ? piriformis syndrome

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

Edema is seen in quadratus femoris muscle, tendon near its attachment at femur. Edema is also seen extending to vastus lateralis and adductor magnus muscles.

CT shows calcifications along intergluteal crest which is the attachment site for quadratus femoris tendon.

Above findings are suggestive of calcific tendinitis of quadratus femoris tendon.
