Presentation

History of head injury

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male
mri

There are lobulated ring-enhancing lesions in the left cerebral hemisphere showing central restricted diffusion with similar satellite lesions, predominantly in the left parietal, occipital and temporal lobes.

There is extensive surrounding edema with effacement of the superficial sulci and compression and displacement of the left lateral ventricle.

There are no lesions in the posterior fossa or in the right hemisphere.

There is mild dilatation of the temporal horns of the lateral ventricles.

There is midline shift to the right of approximately 8 mm.

There is early uncal herniation on the left side. Cerebellar tonsils are normal in position.

Case Discussion

The patient underwent successful surgical evacuation of abscesses, recovered completely and doing well.
