The colon has multiple diverticula in the sigmoid and descending portions. There is a mural thickening of the sigmoid colon of 7 cm in length, with surrounding pericolic fat stranding. In addition, there is a small extraluminal gas denoting microperforation. No intra-abdominal collections.
Case Discussion
The CT findings are consistent with acute diverticulitis with free extraluminal gas, suggesting diverticular perforation.
