Progressive cognitive impairment and dementia

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female
mri

There is bilateral symmetrical T2/FLAIR hyperintensitis involving basal gangelia (putamen and caudate) and posterior medial thalami with hockey stick sign associated with diffusion restriction and involvment of the mesial cortex of the superior frontal gyri.

Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) is a spongiform encephalopathy that result in a rapidly progressive dementia.
