Presentation

Pain localized to 5th metacarpal.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

x-ray

An expansile lytic lesion in the 5th metacarpal shaft with pathological fracture.

Additional expansile lytic lesions are seen in the proximal phalanx of the 5th finger, middle phalanx of the 4th finger, 3rd metacarpal, proximal & middle phalanges of the 3rd finger.

Post operative X-ray

ORIF with curettage + bone grafting and plating in the right 5th metacarpal & proximal phalanx of the little finger.

Case Discussion

The x-ray findings are suggestive of multiple enchondromas in the right hand. The excision biopsy histopathological report confirm enchondroma.

Multiple enchondromas without are characteristic of enchondromatosis.

There were no soft-tissue hemangiomas.
