Symmetric heterogeneously enlarged thyroid lobes devoid of nodular component or calcification. There is increased vascularity demonstrating the "thyroid inferno".
Case Discussion
Enlarged thyroid glands with markedly increased vascularity are typical of Graves disease, especially in the clinical setting of thyrotoxicosis or exophthalmos.
Other mimics are thyroiditis and thyrotoxic goiter.
