- DHS in appropriate position, surgical drain in situ, subtle soft tissue air in line with recent surgery.
- On the oblique view a large scrotal hernia can be observed containing gas-filled bowel loops and solid content as well.
- On the frontal view laterally a bright band-like artifact is visible where the tubes and marker are more clearly depicted. This is a rare artifact caused by extrafocal weaker photons.
Case Discussion
The two image DHS follow-up study turned out to be a demonstration of an incidental scrotal hernia, as well as a display of a not so well known but not uncommon artifact caused by extrafocal low energy x-ray.
