Presentation
Painless swelling of the right forearm.
Patient Data
Large well-defined intermuscular soft tissue mass of the anterior aspect of the right forearm displacing the adjacent muscles mainly the brachiordialis, supinator and pronator teres. It elicits a high signal on T1 and T2 (isointense to the subcutaneous fat) and attenuates on fat sat sequences with thin internal septae of low signal on T2 sequences. A thin rim of peripheral enhancement is seen on postcontrast sequences (peripheral fibrous capsule).
Case Discussion
MRI features most consistent intermuscular lipoma.
Intermuscular lipomas are less common than superficial lipomas. Usually found in middle-aged patients from the 4th to 6th decades of life.
