Hiccups, nausea, and vomiting for several weeks. US and CT abdominal imaging and upper endoscopy are normal. Recovery from COVID-19 one month ago.

Linear V-shaped hyperintensity on T2 and FLAIR located on the dorsal inferior surface of the medulla oblongata, with no sign of enhancement and without diffusion restriction.
Otherwise, the brain is unremarkable.
Case Discussion
The case shows demyelination in the area postrema, a vomit-inducing center. Of note, area postrema syndrome is one of the core clinical characteristics of neuromyelitis optica.
