Tiny avulsion fracture of the dorsal aspect of the base of the distal phalanx of the little (5th) finger.
Case Discussion
A triangular avulsion fragment at the insertion of the common extensor tendon on the dorsal aspect of the distal phalanx at the distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint is compatible with mallet finger.
