Omental torsion with sigmoid colon closed loop obstruction

Presentation

Abdominal pain and distention.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Male

The abdomen's pre-and post-contrast ct scans show a markedly dilated sigmoid colon. The omentum is twisted and laterally displaced with the formation of a knob that surrounded the limbs of the dilated sigmoid.

Case Discussion

Following the vessels to facilitate the identification of the omentum and the mesenteries, which can help aid in omental torsion and closed loop obstructions.
