Presentation

Severe abdominal pain, which was generalized in the initial phase and then localized in the right iliac fossa for 2 days.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

There is a dilated tubular structure in the right iliac fossa, showing continuation with the base of the cecum, measuring up to 25 mm in maximum diameter. The tubular structure exhibits discontinuation of its anterior wall, along with free air foci in its lumen and abnormal increased wall enhancement distal to the ruptured part.

A mild amount of free fluid is seen around the above-mentioned lesion. No definite enlarged lymph nodes are noted.

Case Discussion

CT findings confirm a perforated appendix, as validated by surgical evaluation.
